Who We Are

We sell solutions not reports for shelves

COMPLETIONS GEOSCIENCE was founded in 2021 with a simple philosophy: Integrating geology with geomechanics to optimize engineering & investment decisions. We approach each of our clients with fresh eyes to develop customized, unique characterization strategies. We don't sell off the shelf solutions that maximize our return at the expense of yours.

Geomechanics is complex. Sometimes it is easy to get lost in the detail, the terminology, and the equations. For us the value of geomechanics really comes when it is put in the context of geology that can be mapped regionally, using the data you already have.  Give us a call today and see how we can add value to your Geoenergy project.

Rory Dunphy

Principal Consultant - Geothermal, Geomechanics

Rory is highly experienced in applying geomechanics and natural fracture characterization across a range of areas including Oil & Gas, Geothermal, and Hydrogeology. He has spent 13+ years working in North America with hands-on experience applying a variety of geomechanical methods to evaluate Oil Sands caprock integrity, explore and appraise unconventional resources, design and evaluate hydraulic fracturing programs, generate pore pressure/frac gradient profiles to safely drill complex wells, interpret and model microseismic event generation, and understand/predict reservoir performance.
Throughout his career he has focused on being truly multi-disciplinary and complimented his geological background with growing knowledge in rock physics, microseismic, reservoir and completions engineering, and drilling operations. This has been key to informing the COMPLETIONS GEOSCIENCE approach.
Rory has led data analytics projects, specialist reservoir & asset teams, and new venture activities. This gives him a thorough understanding of business and operational needs that informs COMPLETIONS GEOSCIENCE pragmatic approach.
A background in research gives Rory the scientific rigour to compliment the applied skills developed in Industry. Recent experience working in a government/regulatory environment to  develop screening tools for geothermal exploration shows his ability to quickly adapt skills and experience to new challenges.
Rory believes the fundamental key to success on any project is stakeholder engagement. His extensive experience in this area means COMPLETIONS GEOSCIENCE spends the time to understand what you need, and to ensure our work is integrated into your workflows.

Doug Bearinger

Senior Technical Advisor

Doug Bearinger recently retired from CNOOC International (previously Nexen Energy).  Since 2000 he has developed, characterized and modelled fractured granite reservoirs in Yemen, Mannville Coal Bed methane in Alberta, Horn River Shales in NE British Columbia, and Carbonate reservoirs in Iraq. His areas of focus include natural fracture network description, stimulated fracture network characterization and modelling, fracture growth modelling, geochemical fluid behaviour and fluid clean-up modelling. He graduated in 1982 with a BSc in Applied Earth Science-Geotechnical Option from the University of Waterloo. Bearinger has served on SPE workshop committees for Hydraulic Fracture Flowback, Horizontal Completions in Shales, and Characterizing Unconventional Reservoirs Using In-Situ Tests.
